The Conference

We are thrilled to announce that the first conference of the International Journal on Homelessness will be held on March 21-23, 2023, at DePaul University in Chicago. Registration is now closed.

The conference will convene up to 400 people in person and online, representing diverse perspectives on addressing homelessness, from people with lived experience to practitioners to policymakers and researchers.

The conference will feature keynote speakers, panels, presentations, discussion forums, and optional local program site visits on the morning of the 21st and the morning of the 24th.

The Place

The conference sessions will be hosted at DePaul University’s Lincoln Park Campus in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. Plenary sessions and all breakout sessions will be held in the Student Center, located at 2250 N. Sheffield Ave.

The Agenda

The conference is open to all disciplines and knowledge systems that target preventing and ending homelessness. As a global conference, presenters will want to tie their experience and research to larger debates and global expressions of homelessness research and experience.

For students, the agenda will feature a prize-winning poster competition, an online space for students to engage, a Conversation with the Editor(s) of IJOH, and a student art event. Attending the conference will be an excellent opportunity for you to network with other researchers, academics, and leaders in the homelessness and housing sector.

Call for Proposals

The call for abstracts has now been closed, and successful presenters have been informed. If you have questions regarding the abstract submission process, please email the IJOH Managing Editor, Dr. Abe Oudshoorn.

It is a partnership between DePaul University (Chicago, USA), and Depaul International (London, UK), which provides direct services for people experiencing homelessness in the UK, Ireland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Croatia, USA, and France. The IGH staff and Advisory Committee work with a broad network of world-class advisors, experts, and organizations — balancing geographies, cultures, and skills.
